Symptoms of IBS

Some of the most common symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be easily confused with other illnesses.

In a recent survey of Irritable Bowel Syndrome sufferers conducted by the IFFGD, diarrhea was reported as the predominant condition of IBS in 90% of the respondents. When asked about their "most bothersome" symptoms, 43% of diarrhea sufferers identified abdominal pain or discomfort. 1

On an average basis, the frequency of symptoms reported by diarrhea sufferers translates to over 200 episodes a year for gas and frequent stools. 2

Although diarrhea and abdominal pain are the most predominant symptoms of IBS, there are others that may bother you.

Consult the IBS Symptom Checklist below and see if any of these IBS-related symptoms apply to you.
